Dear Professional Semester II Students:
In follow up to the information you provided on the initial Professional Semester II Student Information form sent in November, we are requesting that students who indicated on that form that they will NOT be relocating to Lethbridge/Southern Alberta (Zone 6) or staying in their home location of Calgary/Airdrie/Cochrane/Okotoks (Zone 5), to please provide us with additional information for coordinating your PS II practicum placement in the community you reside in. If you live outside of Zones 5 or 6 and plan to remain in your home town or city during the Spring 2021 term, we ask that you please complete this additional questionnaire no later than Thursday, December 31, 2020.
Professional Semester II coursework will be delivered online in January and February. Student teachers can expect—as far as we know at the current time, and as is feasible—to be placed in a school-based practicum in March and April to be placed in or within a daily commute (about one hour drive or less) in the area in which they live. PLEASE NOTE: If you have already completed PS I outside the province of Alberta and wish to do so once again for PS II, you MUST then complete PS III in Alberta. Based on the current information available to us, students must complete a minimum of 5 weeks of practicum in the province of Alberta to meet provincial certification requirements. If you were planning to request an out of province PS III internship, and have already completed PS I out of province, you must complete your practicum in Alberta for Spring 2021.
Please proceed by completing this questionnaire to confirm the address you will be residing at during the Spring 2021 term. If you wish to be placed outside of Zone 5 and 6, you will need to include information regarding the school division, school names and town/city where you wish to be placed. Field Experiences will follow up with schools on your behalf to coordinate practicum placements. Students are NOT to contact school directly to seek practicum placements.
Sincerely,
Field Experiences, Faculty of Education
