Research team points to possible epigenetic link between discrimination and disease and call for further research
The University of Lethbridge’s Dr. Olga Kovalchuk and her daughter, Dr. Anna Fiselier (BSc ’14, MSc ’15, PhD ’17), a Family Medicine resident at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, are part of a research team calling for more action to end discrimination, along with further studies to identify the health effects of discrimination as they relate to disease and aging.

Dr. Trushar Patel, a professor in the University of Lethbridge’s Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and Canada Research Chair in RNA and Protein Biophysics, has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
Based in the United Kingdom, the Royal Society of Chemistry bestows fellowship to acknowledge significant achievement by professional chemists and outstanding contributions to the field of chemistry.

Six of the province’s top high school graduates have been awarded $5,000 Chinook Scholarships from the University of Lethbridge as they begin their academic journeys this fall.
Students from Lethbridge, Coaldale, Magrath, and Okotoks were successful in earning the major awards, ahead of a strong field of applicants. All ULethbridge-bound high school students are eligible to apply for the Chinook Scholarship, which recognizes those who have demonstrated superior academic achievement (minimum 85 per cent admission average) and leadership qualities.

Jarislowsky Foundation supporting new Chair with $2 million investment
The University of Lethbridge is joining a network of five universities from across Canada engaged in a first-of-its-kind collaboration focused on educating future leaders in government, politics and the public service. Supported by a $2 million investment from the Jarislowsky Foundation, ULethbridge will soon be embarking on a global search for its inaugural Jarislowsky Chair in Trust and Political Leadership to lead its participation.
