On Thursday, Feb. 23, University of Lethbridge history professor, Dr. Chris Burton, will present Identity and the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. The free event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge in Essie’s and is open to the public.

Given an aging population and increased interest in online learning, which has accelerated since the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Lethbridge is doubling the number of online seats in its Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation program.
“We are doubling the number of seats to 64 to keep up with demand,” says Devan McNeill, an instructor in the program. “We’ve had a waitlist for a few years as demand for our program has grown across Canada. We take students from British Columbia to Newfoundland.”

University of Lethbridge undergraduate students now have more options for international learning with the Global Skills Opportunity (GSO) program.
Funded through the federal government, the program is designed to give students, especially under-represented students, the chance to participate in international learning experiences and develop intercultural skills. Students who face barriers — Indigenous students, students with financial needs and students with disabilities — can participate in experiences abroad.

In endorsing the charter, ULethbridge took a step forward in addressing social injustices of historically excluding marginalized voices by beginning its journey to creating a safe space for all.
