New study to offer free online counselling for rural and remote people struggling with gambling disorders

For people living in rural communities and experiencing problems with gambling, the support and resources available to help them are often limited. A new University of Lethbridge study is seeking to help those struggling with a gambling disorder by offering free online counselling.

Four research projects boosted by CREDO funding

The latest round of funding through the University of Lethbridge’s Community of Research Excellence Development Opportunities (CREDO) program will provide $25,000 to each of four diverse research projects. They include a local oral history project, a study into green bonds and their effect on the stock market, research into how children’s gender identity influences the way they produce sounds, and ways that countries with minority official languages can improve proficiency through education and training policies.

University of Lethbridge iGEM team golden, now focused on next steps with Lethbridge Fire and EMS

Their project is once again golden and now the University of Lethbridge iGEM team is excited to embark on the next phase – determining if and how their plan to improve the cleanliness of emergency medical vehicles is feasible. “Our presentation went really well, we had a lot of positive feedback and a lot of interest around how feasible it would be for EMS to actually implement the system,” says first-year PhD student Taylor Sheahan after her team returned from the International Genetically Engineered Machines (iGEM) World Jamboree in Boston, Mass. with a gold medal in tow.
