Media resources for Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day was created as a way to commemorate members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty and those who continue to serve Canada in times of war and peace. The date, Nov. 11, also marks the time when fighting stopped in the First World War. As Remembrance Day approaches, media are invited to speak with several University of Lethbridge professors who have studied wartime and its effects on those who fought and those who stayed at home:

University of Lethbridge jumps to second in Research Infosource rankings, leads in graduate student intensity

The University of Lethbridge continues to trend up in the ranking of the country’s top research universities, according to the latest Research InfoSource annual Research Universities of the Year rankings list. The U of L jumped to second in the country in the 2017 Undergraduate classification, while also maintaining its 34th-place standing in the overall rankings list. It is the third successive year the University has made a gain in the rankings.

Scholarship honours U of L’s first acting president

Fifty years ago, Dr. Russell Leskiw (LLD ’93) became the University of Lethbridge’s first acting president, guiding the institution from its birth on Jan. 1, 1967 through its first six months. In honour of his legacy, the U of L recently established the Dr. Russell Leskiw Memorial Scholarship and, this fall, the first scholarship was given to Kelcey McCarthy, a fifth-year education student.
