Wanda Nanibush is the inaugural Curator, Indigenous Art of the Indigenous + Canadian Art department at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Nanibush is an Anishinaabe-kwe curator, writer, image-maker, and community organizer from Beausoleil First Nation, located in Southern Ontario. Nanibush has a Master’s degree in visual studies from the University of Toronto.

Nick Wade will speak about the evolution of his work through of the last 12 years, from his work with camera obscura and photographs to paintings and then wall mounted objects combining a painting component and a “furnishing” with a very particular reception of light in the work. 

Gary Evans was born in Weston Super Mare, England and resides in Alliston, Ontario. He has been exhibiting work professionally since 1995.  

"In "Some ideas about warmth.", many concepts I’ve explored through discreet collaborations and site-responsive projects have begun to cohere within an open system of sculptural work. In undertaking this project, I seek to honour day-to-day practices domestic and emotional labour — the connective tissue holding our selves and our communities together, alive and intact.

As a medium, film has often been likened to death – it is a moment frozen in time as the great French film theorist André Bazin put it – it is time mummified. Vulture Aesthetics, relates both to my own work as a filmmaker and teacher, but also the work developed through the Independent Imaging Retreat (aka Film Farm), a hand processing film workshop in Southern Ontario, nearly 25 years in the works.

Brent Coulton (BFA, Emily Carr University of Art + Design) is a multi-disciplinary artist with a wide variety of interests and experiences that influence his creative projects. Having spent time as a member of an illegal artist-run space, a touring punk and noise rock musician, graffiti artist, and craftsman building boats and cars, his artistic undertakings are varied and inconsistent.

Five Short Stories 

Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir discusses a selection of five works that represent what her practice has revolved around the last ten years: Five Drawings, Declaration, The Distance, The Braid Choir and The Pendulum Choir.  

Darcy Logan is a multi-disciplinary artist who works in media as diverse as painting, printmaking, performance, and video. Exhibiting under the anonym Frater Tham, he is interested in exploring myth, folklore, and fringe-epistemology as a tool to investigate & recontexualize the conventions of personal and cultural knowledge.
