Province announces new restrictions effective May 5, 2021

On Wednesday, May 5, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced significant restrictions that will take effect immediately and remain in place for at least the next three weeks. Operations at the University of Lethbridge will be affected by these new measures.

All post-secondary institutions must move their activities online. Classes that are fully in person or have an in-person component and that are scheduled for May 5 will be paused for one day to allow for this transition. All scheduled online classes will proceed as planned.

Iikaisskini Gathering Space construction and asbestos removal

Between May 3 and August 31, 2021, contractors will be working in E610/E620 and W650 doing renovations for the Iikaisskini Gathering Space project. Access to these spaces will be restricted and the construction could cause some noise disruptions to adjacent areas. 

From Monday, May 3 to Thursday, June 3 asbestos removals will be conducted in W650 in the University Centre for the Arts. The work is within vacated areas only and will not be a disruption to normal operations.

University Library Services Update | Summer 2021

The Summer 2021 semester is approaching and we wanted to provide you with some updates about the University Library’s services and spaces.

HOURS OF OPERATION

Starting April 24, 2021, the University Library’s Anderson Hall and Online Assistance hours of operation are as follows:

  • Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Weekends and holidays: Closed

STUDY SPACE

Library Online Services Interruption: Monday, April 26, 8 to 10 a.m.

On Monday, April 26 from 8 to 10 a.m., central ITS will be performing necessary system maintenance and security patches on our core library proxy server. Access to all licensed databases and articles will be unavailable during this time.

The Summon discovery service will not be affected, but access to the licensed resources will not be available within the Summon interface.

We apologize for the inconvenience, however, this important work will ensure the future stability and security of our systems and services.

Circle of the Sun: Free Film Screening | May 7

This short documentary by Colin Low is an invitation to a gathering of the Káínaa of Alberta - as the Sun Dance is captured on film for the first time. The film shows how the theme of the circle reflects the bands' connection to wildlife and also addresses the predicament of the young generation, those who have relinquished their ties with their own culture but have not yet found a firm place in a changing world.
