Our dual credit courses can be taken by students in grades 10, 11, and 12. Your school division will determine eligibility. Ask your teacher or guidance counsellor how you can take dual credit courses. 

If you are interested in taking a dual credit course, speak to a teacher or your guidance counsellor. Your school division will check if you are eligible to take the course you are interested in. Your teacher or guidance counselor will help you register in the course.

School divisions usually cover the cost of dual credit courses. Check with your teacher or guidance counselor to see if you will need to pay for books or supplies. If there is a cost to take a dual credit course, your school will let you know before you register.

You can take as many dual credit courses as you want, but we recommend that you only take one dual credit course at a time. You should talk to your guidance counsellor to find out how dual credit courses fit into your high school graduation requirements.

Your dual credit course might transfer to another institution. Talk to your guidance counsellor or an Academic Advisor at ULeth who can help you find out if the course will transfer. 

Deadlines in university are very important. Each university assignment helps you build skills you will need to get the most out of the course. Instructors understand that things can come up, and sometimes some flexibility is needed. If you contact your instructor before the assignment due date, they will work with you to see if an extension is possible.

When you are registered in a dual credit course, you will receive an email from the university explaining how to set up your ULeth email. This email will be sent to the email you listed on your registration form. Once you have set up your ULeth email all your course related emails will go to your ULeth account. It is important that you set up and check your ULeth email regularly. If you have not received a setup email let your high school teacher know right away.

The university uses an online platform called Moodle that keeps all the information about your course and assignments online in one spot that you can access anytime. You log in using your ULeth email address and password. You should try to log into your course a few days before the course start date to make sure you don't have any issues logging in. If you get any error messages when trying to log into Moodle immediately let your high school teacher know.

You can access services at the university as a dual credit student. Services at the university include; the library, writing centre, academic advising, elder program, wellness programs and student services. Learn more about the services available.

As a dual-credit student at the University of Lethbridge, you are held to the same academic standards and student policies as ULeth’s undergraduate students. These policies outline your rights and responsibilities as a student and describes the consequences for actions related to cheating, plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct. If you do not think you will be able to complete or pass a dual credit course, you must immediately talk to your high school teacher and university instructor. Your high school teacher will review options with you and help you drop the course. It is your responsibility to communicate with your high school teacher and instructor before the last day of your dual credit class. If you wait until the class is over, you cannot change the grade you earn on your permanent university transcript.

As a dual-credit student at ULeth, you will have an official University of Lethbridge transcript that shows the grades earned in your ULeth courses. Your ULeth transcript will need to be shared with any other post-secondary you apply to in the future. Your grades are also shared with your high school, and the school will assign grades to the appropriate high school courses based on the university grades. The high school courses will show on your high school report card. 

You should discuss leaving courses you will not likely pass with your instructor of high school teacher, so the course does not impact your future post-secondary plans. If you are considering dropping a course, you should immediately contact your instructor and high school teacher to discuss your situation. Leaving a course may be reflected on your permanent academic transcript, ask your instructor or high school teacher for help before leaving any course.
