Use of Space Priorities

Public Facilities

University facilities are public facilities. It is the policy of the University to encourage the use of its facilities on a year-round basis and, where appropriate, to develop an additional source of revenue to support regular programs and service.

Priorities

1. Activities central to University

Degree, certificate and diploma credit classes

All classrooms are booked by the Registrar's Office and have the highest priority


Student Services Functions

  • Student orientation
  • Recruitment events
  • Student welcoming events
  • Convocation
  • Campusfest
  • U of L Career Conferences
  • International Dinner

Board of Governnors Functions

  • Chancellor's Dinner
  • Board Retreats
  • University Advancement functions
  • Official visits and tours by dignitaries
  • Official openings and ceremonies

Athletic Events

  • Pronhorn Athletic games
  • Inter-University Athletic programs

Theatre and Conservatory

  • U of L Theatre performances
  • Music conservatory lessons

Administrative Functions

  • Information Technology training sessions
  • Internal faculty or department functions and celebrations for University staff
  • Administrative meeting
2. Activites where the goal of the gathering is to extend the focus and mission of the University, both internally and externally

Ratified Clubs

  • All student events held in the Students' Union Ballroom(s) are subject to the Students' Union charging policies

Employee Group

  • AUPE functions
  • APO, Director functions
  • Alumni Association meetings
  • Approved extra-curricular activities sponsored by University departments
  • Faculty Association

Academic & Professional

Such conferences/meetings are designed for the benefit of all those attending, not for the primary goal of extending the focus and mission of the U of L
3. All activities sponsored by non-University groups

Weddings/Banquets & Special Events

These are obvious external events that have nothing to do with the mission of the university, albeit University students may be the major clients in some instances.
