The University of Lethbridge community never fails to rally around those in need, especially when it comes to supporting students. In the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, it quickly became apparent that some students were facing severe challenges to make ends meet. Many students lost part-time jobs, had trouble putting food on the table or making rent payments — all while trying to complete a semester that had been turned upside down by an unprecedented switch to an online platform.

The Women Scholars’ Speaker Series (WSSS) will open its 19th season in the virtual space this week, continuing to give a voice to outstanding women researchers and the ground-breaking work they are doing in the research community.

The University of Lethbridge’s Dr. Majid Mohajerani and two partners from Laval University are creating new tools for neuroscience research that they’ll use to test out a promising drug target for Alzheimer’s disease. If successful, their research could lead to new treatments to prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease symptoms, delay progression of the disease or even restore normal function after symptoms have appeared.

Care labour — what is it, what does it mean to you, how does it affect the economy, how is it related to ethics, gender, sexuality and ability? These are just some of the questions that will be explored at the School of Liberal Education’s fourth annual Liberal Education Symposium.

Community members invited to participate in national conversation The University of Lethbridge has joined the University of Toronto and Canadian universities and colleges across the country to facilitate a national conversation to develop concrete actions for change in higher education and in our communities. The National Dialogues are a series of national forums focused on addressing equity and inclusion in Canadian post-secondary education.
