Honourable John Charles (Jack) Major, Supreme Court justice, to be granted honorary degree

As one of Canada’s most respected legal minds, Supreme Court Justice John Charles (Jack) Major ruled on some of our country’s most important decisions. The University of Lethbridge is proud to present Major with an honorary degree at its Spring 2022 Convocation. The Honourable John Charles (Jack) Major served his province and his country with distinction for more than 50 years, first as a respected litigator and then as a judge who appointed himself with dignity and the utmost respect for those who appeared before him.

New media professor Leanne Elias awarded Board of Governors Teaching Chair

An inspiring educator who finds ways to challenge her students while complementing their knowledge, new media professor Leanne Elias is this year’s recipient of the Board of Governors Teaching Chair. Elias plans to develop and deliver a series of interdisciplinary workshops for both undergraduate and graduate students with the goal of understanding how teaching changes when working with multiple disciplines and how students are impacted. While Board of Governors Teaching Chair, she also intends to bring together a community of practice for interdisciplinary teaching.

Destination Exploration celebrating 20 years of STEM outreach activities with community open house

Canadian Space Agency grant to help develop next generation of space scientists

The University of Lethbridge has received a $100,000 grant from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to train the next generation of space scientists in the development of a cryogenic post-dispersed polarizing Fourier transform spectrometer (PDPFTS). ULethbridge is one of 21 post-secondary institutions in the country to receive a grant through the CSA’s Flights and Fieldwork for the Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST) funding initiative.
