Two U of L researchers win Parkland Institute awards

Two research projects, one on midwifery care in Alberta and the other on the use of gallows humour among the Kainai, got a significant boost thanks to research awards from the Parkland Institute. Dr. Tiffany Boulton, a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Sociology, will examine access to midwifery care in Alberta and Amberlea Parker, a graduate student, plans to develop an oral history of gallows humour among the Kainai people.

U of L welcomes new students at New Student Orientation

With students set to arrive for the first day of classes on Wednesday, Sept. 5, the University of Lethbridge is busy getting ready for the 2018 Fall Semester. The annual New Student Orientation (NSO) gets things going and sets the tone for the 2018-2019 academic year. It runs Sept. 3 and 4 and serves as an introduction for new students and their families, providing information on important student services, academic expectations and general post-secondary life.

U of L students to participate in Semester at Sea, including first recipients of Brawn Family Foundation scholarships

The first recipients of the Semester at Sea scholarships from the Brawn Family Foundation will soon set sail on the adventure of a lifetime. Amanda Sakundiak and Mackenzie Salmon, scholarship recipients, and Prachi Sanghavi, who’s participating in the Semester at Sea program at her own expense, set sail from Hamburg, Germany on Sept. 9 for a semester of learning in the shipboard classrooms and through field experiences and service projects in countries around the world.
