Two U of L professors receive renewed Canada Research Chair funding

Dr. Kristine Alexander, a University of Lethbridge history professor, and Dr. Locke Spencer, a U of L experimental astrophysicist, will continue their leading-edge research with the renewal of their Tier 2 Canada Research Chair funding.

U Sports Men’s National Hockey Championship comes to Lethbridge

It’s just the fourth time in the University of Lethbridge’s 51-year history that it will host a U Sports national championship, and the first time the country’s best men’s hockey programs will battle on Enmax Centre ice for the right to raise the David Johnston University Cup. Today, ticket sales opened for the prestigious U Sports Men’s National Hockey Championship tournament.

Undergrad scores big with research poster

As an undergraduate student researcher, Justin Miller was simply excited to be attending the Canadian Ecotoxicity Workshop recently held in Vancouver. As Canada’s predominant annual conference for ecotoxicologists, he knew he’d be learning about the latest developments in the field. What he didn’t expect was to come away with a third-place award and a cash prize for his research poster.

University of Lethbridge Alumni Association seeking to further engage alumni, ratifies five new chapters

The University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (ULAA) recently ratified five new alumni chapters as it seeks to further engage the now more than 43,000 U of L alumni who are making a difference in communities around the world. In September, the ULAA confirmed its five new chapters, bringing the total number of uLethbridge alumni chapters to seven: the Lethbridge Chapter, the Calgary Chapter, the Iniskim Indigenous Chapter, the Edmonton Chapter, the On-Campus Chapter, the Vancouver Chapter and the Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Chapter.

University of Lethbridge science student dives right into research – with impressive first-year results

University of Lethbridge first-year science student Arashk Ghasroddashti (pronounced gas-row-DASH-tee) had no expectations when he presented recently his research work at the 2018 Undergraduate Neuroscience Conference at the University of Alberta. When he was awarded the prize for best poster presentation, it further ignited his passion for neuroscience research and validated his decision to begin his post-secondary career at the U of L.

Community support helps establish endowed scholarship in honour of former dean Dr. Bhagwan Dua

The University of Lethbridge Faculty of Arts & Science is pleased to announce the inaugural Wine & Dine Arts & Science Scholarship Dinner has raised over $80,000 in support of student scholarships. Thanks to the generous support of donors, the Dr. Bhagwan Dua Memorial Scholarship has been endowed with enough funds to award two scholarships per year to students pursuing a degree from the Faculty of Arts & Science. One scholarship will be awarded to a first-year student while the other will be awarded to a continuing student.

Dhillon School of Business to announce new major in Agricultural Enterprise Management

Thanks to the generosity of Cor Van Raay and his $5-million gift to the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College, along with matching funding from the provincial government, the Dhillon School of Business is launching a new major in Agricultural Enterprise Management. Van Raay recognized the business and management aspects of agriculture — agricultural finance, marketing and trade, for example — needed more attention and his donation became the catalyst to expand the business focus on agriculture.
