Music at Noon Series: Garry Gable, bass-baritone, and Kathleen Lohrenz Gable, piano
Tuesday, Sept. 24, 12:15 to 1 p.m., W570, Recital Hall
Garry and Kathleen Lohrenz Gable, from the University of Saskatchewan, have taught and performed together several times in China, where Garry is adjunct faculty in music conservatories in Wuhan and Tianjin. Garry teaches vocal studies, literature and pedagogy, and directs the Music Theatre Ensemble at the U of S. Kathleen is the music director for the Music Theatre Ensemble.

Opening of U of L Library’s Indigenous Space
Wednesday, Sept. 25, 10 to 11 a.m., Level 10 South, Library
The U of L Library will be launching and formally naming the Indigenous space Tsinikssini, which translates to ‘Our Stories.’

Harley Hotchkiss Memorial Lecture
Thursday, Sept. 26, 11:15 a.m., E690, University Hall
Dr. Richard Betzel, a neuroscience professor at Indiana University Bloomington, will discuss pathways and modules in brain networks. Advances in large-scale imaging of the brain have made it possible to reconstruct regional and anatomical pathways. These pathways can be represented as networks and analyzed using methods from network science.

PUBlic Professor — Dr. Louise Barrett
Thursday, Sept. 26, 7 to 9 p.m., Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge
Everyone’s welcome to join Dr. Louise Barrett, a U of L psychology professor, as she explores Supercharged Apes and Supersized Minds: How to Think Like an Animal.Barrett has studied primate behaviour for the past 25 years, along with studies of human behaviour and ecology. Barrett will discuss how to best understand what it means to be human and to appreciate our place in nature.
