Advisory — Join us as we set the stage for the inaugural Faculty of Fine Arts Vibe Fest
The Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lethbridge is preparing for Vibe Fest, an all-access, playful and immersive community celebration of artistic talent and creativity.
*Media are invited to speak with Faculty of Fine Arts Dean, Dr. Heather Davis-Fisch, and Vibe Fest organizers during a behind-the-scenes tour and preview of Vibe Fest on Friday, April 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the University Theatre Lobby (W500)*
What is Vibe Fest?
For one night only, the doors of the University Centre for the Arts will open to the community for a showcase of the talent and artistry of fine arts students, alumni and faculty — highlighting the Centre for the Arts as a hub of creative talent in Lethbridge and southern Alberta.
The Vibe Festival (Vibe Fest) promises a playful, immersive celebration of contemporary art, performance and creative technologies. Running from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, the Faculty of Fine Arts Vibe Fest will feature a free, all-access community arts celebration.
“Vibe Fest is an opportunity to celebrate the innovative work our students, alumni and faculty create,” says Davis-Fisch. “Attendees will experience the full scope of emerging contemporary art practice in southern Alberta and can immerse themselves in interactive and participatory experiences including installations, performances, live music, soundscapes, film and digital media.”
In addition to celebrating student achievement, Vibe Fest attendees can explore the University Centre for the Arts’ outstanding learning and creative facilities that are often hidden from public view: studios, exhibition spaces, digital cinema suites, workshops, recording studios and more.
As Vibe Fest nears its premiere, there are several exciting performances, exhibitions, installations and more planned:
- Join the Department of New Media for their 25th anniversary celebration and check out a retrospective showcase of work from students, employees and alumni
- Celebrate student scholarship and award winners and take in some of their talent at the Department of Art Student Awards and Open House
- Experience a staged reading of third-place Play Right Prize winner Maddie McKee’s play, Create
- Immerse yourself in the world-class Studio One Recording Suite with live mixing demonstrations with Grammy Award-nominated recording engineer and instructor Dr. Mary Mazurek
- Shop around our local Artisan Market, featuring student and community vendors
- Get a behind-the-scenes tour of Fine Arts creative facilities, shops, classrooms, studios and labs
