Executive Committee (EC)

Overview
The Executive Committee (EC) provides strategic leadership and oversight for i4Geo, focusing on institute strategy, projects, outreach, and operations. The EC meets twice per year and is chaired by the i4Geo Director. The committee comprises 12 voting members: 4 ex officio and 8 elected.

Ex officio members (4):
Department of Geography and Environment (DoGE) Chair
Teaching Centre Executive Director (or designate)
Vice-President (Research) (or designate)
Dean, Faculty of Arts & Science (FAS) (or designate)
Elected members (8):
Up to five “Regular” (faculty) Institute members (one also serves as Associate Director)
Up to three “HQP trainee” Institute members (ideally one postdoctoral fellow, one graduate student, and one senior undergraduate)
Elected members serve two-year renewable terms. See section below for the inaugural EC member list (2024–26).
Quorum and Voting
A quorum requires more than 50% of voting members (7) to be present. In the event of a split vote, the Director casts the deciding vote.
Staff Participation (Non-voting)
Salaried Institute staff—the Institute Manager, Geospatial Technician, and Entrepreneurial Strategist—attend EC meetings in a non-voting capacity to report on activities as needed. The Institute Manager records the minutes of EC meetings.

Meeting Schedule
The EC meets twice annually to review progress, approve priorities, and guide the Institute’s strategy, operations, and external engagement.
