ART NOW - Nigel Prince Speaks October 19th, 2015 at Noon in the Recital Hall

Nigel Prince was appointed Executive Director of the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver, in January 2011.  Prior to this he was Senior Curator at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, UK.  He has also worked as an independent curator and writer, and held academic positions, most notably serving as Course Director for BA (Hons) Visual Arts at Birmingham City University.  Prince continues to write extensively for exhibition catalogues and art journals internationally, and has taught on Fine Art and Curatorial Masters programmes and PhD supervision at universities including Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmin

ART NOW - Annie Martins Speaks October 2nd, 2015 at Noon at the Casa Gallery

ART NOW - Leila Armstrong Speaks October 10th, 2015 at Noon in the Recital Hall

Leila Armstrong has an M.A. in Media Studies from Concordia University. She works both independently and in collaboration with other artists such as Darcy Logan, Maria Madacky, and Rick Gillis in M.E.D.I.U.M. (Metaphysical Explorations, Divinations, and Investigations Utilizing Magic).  Her most recent solo exhibition “Coyote” -- a body of work addressing the intersection of wildlife with rural, suburban, and urban spaces -- was shown at Casa in 2014.

Petra Malá Miller was born in former Czechoslovakia and grew up in Blatnice, a village in 
southern Moravia. 
Her photographic work explores the poetics of childhood, of innocence, 
ageing, memory and loss and raises questions surrounding representation, cultural identity, the individual, 
the family and the community.

ART NOW - Kirsten Lyttle Speaks October 5th, 2015 at Noon in the Recital Hall

Kirsten Lyttle is a Melbourne based multi-media artist who is of Māori descent. Her Iwi (tribe) is Waikato, tribal affiliation is Ngaati Taghina, Tainui A Whiro. Trained as a photographer (Fine Art) at RMIT University, she completed a Fine Art Degree with Distinction in 2008. In 2013, she was awarded a Master of Fine Art (RMIT University). In March 2015, she began her PhD candidature at Deakin University: her thesis topic Digital Mana? An investigation of the compatibility of Māori customary art practices, digital imaging technologies and digital/cyber space(s).
