Advisory — First day for Southern Alberta Medical Program students on ULethbridge campus
The first cohort of students for the Southern Alberta Medical Program (SAMP) has commenced training and will be on the University of Lethbridge campus for the first time on Monday, July 6, 2026.
An innovative partnership between the University of Lethbridge and the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine (CSM), established with funding from the Government of Alberta, SAMP allows students to earn a University of Calgary medical degree while completing their education at the University of Lethbridge campus and in communities across the region.
WHAT: SAMP students first day on campus
WHEN: Monday, July 6, 2026, 12 to 1 p.m.
WHERE: Markin Hall Atrium/Students’ Union Building (Zoo)
Monday’s first day will feature welcome to campus activities for students and physician directors. Media are invited to attend to speak with students, SAMP Associate Dean Dr. Richard Buck, and physician directors.
Dr. Buck and physician directors will be available for interviews at 12 p.m. in the Markin Hall Atrium. Students will be completing a campus scavenger hunt at 12:30 p.m. and may be available for interviews in the Students’ Union Building (Zoo) where they will be having lunch.
