Biography
Kathy Matkin-Clapton has been an instructor of voice and early childhood music as well as a classroom music specialist in Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Connecticut, and has taught in the Lethbridge area for several years.
Matkin-Clapton has been with the U of L Conservatory of Music since 1993, as a private voice instructor and children's ensemble director. She founded the preschool program musicfirst and pianofirst in 1993, a program she oversaw and taught until 1997. She has been involved in musical theatre as a performer and musical director for several years as well. Her love of both of these areas provided the inspiration for the development of the U of L's Musicalive! Program in 1994. She has been the director of the U of L Conservatory Youth Choir since 1996.
Her other professional involvements include elementary music specialist in Lethbridge School District #51. She served on the Executive Committee of the Fine Arts Council of Alberta and has been active both locally and provincially as a clinician in music education.
