Dhillon Student Services Fair

Tuesday, Sept. 10, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Markin Hall Atrium

Dhillon School of Business students will find out how to make the most of their degree. They’ll learn about professional development opportunities, co-op work terms, the Student Managed Investment Fund, management clubs and the Malaysia Work-Study opportunity.

3D Photography

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 10, 11 and 12, 1 to 4 p.m., Hess Gallery, Level 6 Centre for the Arts

These free workshops allow participants to bring their own small objects and turn them into 3D images using photogrammetry and Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI). The workshops are part of a new research project called Concepts That Bite Through Time. The project aims to provide access to extraordinarily detailed 3D models of non-sacred historical Blackfoot objects held in British museums.

The effects of genes, personality, networks, and space on collective behaviour

Tuesday, Sept. 10, 3:3 p.m., PE 261

Dr. Noa Pinter-Wollman, from the University of California at Los Angeles, studies how group composition affects group behaviour in a variety of animal species. Her approach combines filed and lab studies with computer simulations, theoretical work, image analysis and social network analysis. Pinter-Wollman holds the Animal Behaviour Society’s Outstanding New Investigator Award.

Art NOW

Wednesday, Sept. 11, noon, W570, Recital Hall

Karen Campbell, a visual artist based in Lethbridge, has exhibited her work at galleries across the country. Her subject matter is in direct response to her lived experience. Her current exhibit, my lilac shadow, presents drawings that are a response to a critical illness, treatment and recuperation. The exhibit is on display at The Gallery at Casa from Sept. 7 to Oct. 19.

Big Bang Grand Opening

Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14, various times, Science Commons

The official grand opening ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. in the level 7 atrium of Science Commons. Following the grand opening, visitors can enjoy the Welcome Back BBQ, guided building tours, Beakerhead installations, the PUBlic Professor Series: 5-Minute Edition and the Big Bang Gala with Jay Ingram. Saturday’s activities feature more tours, the Beakerhead installations and The Chem Guys Show from noon to 1 p.m. and Jay Ingram’s Giant Walkthrough Brain from 1 to 2 p.m. The full schedule is available online.
