Opening Reception — Imagined Space

Wednesday, June 1, 9 to 10:30 a.m., Main Gallery, W600

Imagined Space, curated by David Smith, will feature abstract artworks of the Canadian Prairies from the U of L art collection. The exhibit will be on display until Thursday, Aug. 18 at 8:30 p.m.

First Nations, Métis and Inuit Student Convocation

Wednesday, June 1, 6 p.m., Students’ Union Ballrooms

The accomplishments of graduating FNMI students will be celebrated at a mini-powwow and an eagle feather presentation.

Spring 2016 Convocation Ceremonies

Thursday and Friday, June 2 and 3, 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., 1st Choice Savings Centre

Family and friends will be celebrating the accomplishments of 1,452 students during convocation ceremonies. The ceremony is the capstone of students’ educational experiences, rich with tradition and symbolism, and a formal recognition of students’ achievements. This year marks the last ceremonies for Chief Marshal Sheila McManus; she will be handing over the University Mace to a new chief marshal at the end of the last ceremony.

First Friday Lunch & Listen Concert Series — Romancing the Guitar

Strings Festival — U of L Conservatory of Music

Saturday, June 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., various locations, U of L Centre for the Arts

Strings players of all ages will be on campus for master classes, private lessons and technique classes. The festival is a day-long immersive experience for strings players and gives them access to the facilities and rehearsal spaces U of L music students use and the opportunity to spend the day with strings experts.

Culture Vulture Saturdays — Marvelous Fingerprints

Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Centre for the Arts, Atrium

Finger painting and drawing give everyone the chance to get downright messy without having to worry about the cleanup.
