The Anatomy of Memory: From Scenes to Events

Monday, June 18, 4 p.m., PE275, 1st Choice Savings Centre

AND

Tuesday, June 19, 7 p.m., Theatre Gallery, Lethbridge Public Library

Dr. Eleanor Maguire, the scientist behind the London taxi driver study that showed memorizing a map of London created structural brain changes, will be discussing the structure and internal workings of memory and how memories are made as part of the 16th annual Brenda Milner Lecture Series. Maguire is a professor of cognitive neuroscience at University College London.

Pause for Paws therapy dogs

Tuesday, June 19, 1 to 2 p.m., L1008 A & B

Therapy dogs will be back on campus to give students the chance to pause their studies for summer session final exams and enjoy some furry canine companionship.

Book launch — Unchained Man: The Arctic Life and Times of Captain Robert Abram Bartlett

Saturday, June 23, 2 to 4 p.m., Chapters, 701 1 Ave. S.

Dr. Maura Hanrahan researched archives in four countries for her biography of Robert Bartlett, an explorer and a central figure in Arctic history. In 1914, Bartlett trekked 700 miles across the frozen Arctic to save survivors of the sunken Karluk. He led many expeditions to the Arctic and spent years mapping and exploring its waters. Despite his celebrity, Bartlett was a complex man who struggled to find peace.
