MLA Campeau is the first executive-in-residence through the Scotiabank First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Mentors Program. She was one of the first graduates of the U of L’s First Nations Governance program in 2008 and was elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in 2011. While in Lethbridge this week, Campeau will be speaking to First Nations students and youth.

Music at Noon Series — Dr. Deanna Oye, piano

Dr. Oye is an associate professor and Chair of the Department of Music. In addition to teaching at the U of L, Oye maintains a busy performing schedule. Her performance will feature music from 19th-century Vienna and 20th-century South America.

Water Talks — Dr. Jon Sweetman
Wednesday, Jan. 28, noon to 1 p.m., Alberta Water and Environmental Science Building, WE1001
Sweetman, water resources manager with Alberta Innovates – Energy and Environment Solutions, will talk about the work he does to help meet Alberta’s Water for Life goals, including safe and secure drinking water, healthy aquatic ecosystems and reliable, quality water supplies. He will discuss achieving these goals in light of population growth, increasing development, more demands for water and growing effects of climate change.

Café Galt — Dr. Goldie Morgentaler
Thursday, Jan. 29, 7 p.m., Galt Museum and Archives
Dr. Morgentaler, a U of L English professor, will be the guest speaker at a talk about the novels written by her mother, Dr. Chava Rosenfarb, a U of L Honorary degree recipient (2006). Rosenfarb, who was born in Poland and survived the Holocaust, wrote in Yiddish to recreate the lost world of Jewish Poland.

Pronghorn Men’s Hockey Program — head shave

The men’s hockey team will be shaving their heads in support of teammate Dylan Tait and athletic therapist and equipment manager Brennan Mahon, both of whom were diagnosed with testicular cancer this year.
