Art Now — David Miller
Monday, Jan. 19, noon to 12:50 p.m., Recital Hall, Room W570
David Miller, the 2014 winner of the Duke and Duchess of York prize in Photography and a former instructor in the Faculty of Fine Arts, returns to campus to talk about his art. His photos have been described as testaments to the power of photographs as objects. He has explored the concept of photographs as memorials and for several projects he travelled to Central Europe photographing people at sites such as Auschwitz.

Music at Noon Series — Musaeus String Quartet

Lethbridge Symphony’s professional string quartet presents a concert highlighting music from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Art Now — Janet Morton
Wednesday, Jan. 21, noon to 12:50 p.m., Recital Hall, Room W570
Janet Morton, a Toronto artist, uses knitting and sewing in her artworks in ways that have been described as symbolic and subversive. In 1999, she installed ‘Cozy,’ a knitted cover for her house. An exhibition in 2000 featured a domestic interior with furniture, a lamp, a telephone and a vacuum cleaner covered in materials from recycled sweaters.

Media Call — Selfies
Thursday, Jan. 22, 10 a.m., U of L Main Gallery
Dr. Josephine Mills, director/curator of the U of L Art Gallery, will be available to talk about the Selfies exhibit that explores the much maligned social media phenomenon through art works from the U of L’s collection. The exhibit opens at 4 p.m. Thursday.

PUBlic Professor Series — Dr. David Naylor
