With one of the most unique settings in Canadian post-secondary, the University of Lethbridge is home to an abundance of wildlife, not the least of which is an extremely robust population of birds.

The Dhillon School of Business (DSB) at the University of Lethbridge is honoured to announce renowned international scholar and leader Dr. Leroy Little Bear (BA ’72, DASc ’04) as its newest adjunct professor. Little Bear is currently the University’s Niitsitapi Scholar, acts as senior advisor to University President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mike Mahon and teaches in the Dhillon School of Business’ Indigenous Governance and Business Management program.

Truth and Reconciliation Week at the University of Lethbridge took on added importance this past week. In the wake of a summer of painful revelations in respect to the uncovering of unmarked burial sites at former Indian Residential School locations, the stories of a dark past were thrust into the light for all to see.

A new study by University of Lethbridge researchers has shown parents of children with complex mental health-care needs face enormous struggles trying to find appropriate services in Alberta’s public health system.

Thanks to a $2-million donation from Art and Mary Jane Crooks, the Evelyn Hamilton Chair in Liberal Education at the University of Lethbridge will honour Art’s mother and her lifelong desire to learn. “We are very grateful to Art and Mary Jane for this generous donation,” says Mike Mahon, U of L president and vice-chancellor. “Art’s mother, Evelyn Hamilton, is a perfect example of someone who lived the values of liberal education and we are proud to name the Chair of Liberal Education in her honour.”

On September 30, the University of Lethbridge will recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day provides members of our community time and space to reflect on the multigenerational impacts of residential schools.

Usually, we argue when we disagree, we argue against each other. We want to show our partner we are right, and they are wrong — and we want to show them this by demonstrating we have the better reasons on our side.
