On September 30, the University of Lethbridge (Iniskim) will recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
The week of September 26-30 is Truth and Reconciliation Week at ULethbridge and the University has a number of activities planned for members of the University community.

One of the most important areas on the University of Lethbridge campus opened today and fittingly, it is named after one of ULethbridge’s most iconic figures, Dr. Leroy Little Bear (BASc ’72, DASc ’04).

Two new annual bursaries worth $10,000 each will give University of Lethbridge students studying remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS) or geography a financial boost for the next five years thanks to a donation from TECTERRA, a Calgary-based, non-profit organization dedicated to the development of geospatial technology.

Researchers at the University of Lethbridge’s Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience (CCBN) have shown that the sex of an experimenter, a factor typically not accounted for in preclinical studies using rodents, could have an effect on study results. Their findings were recently published in Frontiers in Neuroscience.
