University of Lethbridge Pronghorns assistant women’s basketball coaches Paige Crozon and Kacie Bosch (BA ’21) are on top of the world after leading Canada to its second straight title at the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series Final in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia this past weekend. The duo, along with twin sisters Katherine Plouffe and Michelle Plouffe, defeated France 16-15 in the championship game, and now look forward to qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to Alzheimer’s Disease International, many factors have been linked to the development of dementia. While some risk factors, such as age or family history, can’t be modified, other risk factors, such as exercise, smoking, alcohol consumption and obesity, can be altered. Those modifiable risk factors are of particular interest to University of Lethbridge neuroscientist Dr. Rob McDonald.

New EDI Scholars represent broadening of important University of Lethbridge program

An unprecedented number of applications has created the broadest representation of disciplines for the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Scholars program yet, with six new scholars named by the University of Lethbridge today. Drs. Dawn Burleigh, Sean Fitzpatrick, Kara Granzow (BA ’99), Jason Laurendeau, Rhiannon Mesler and Tracy Oosterbroek (BN ’95, MSc(N) ’09) were named EDI Scholars for 2023-24, committing to engage in projects that advance the University’s EDI priorities. When complete, they will then share the information with the campus community.

It’s no wonder then that an invitation-only conference like the Puzzle of Sexual Orientation, recently held at the University of Lethbridge, drew leading sex researchers from around the world to discuss their work in the company of fellow scientists who are also seeking to build knowledge in the field.
