Faculty of Health Sciences honours former dean Dr. Chris Hosgood

The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge has chosen former dean Dr. Chris Hosgood as this year’s recipient of the Friend of Health Sciences Award, an award he instituted during his time as dean. “We are so pleased to honour Chris with the Friend of Health Sciences Award,” says Dr. Jon Doan, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences. “His hard work, dedication and leadership skills enabled the growth of Health Sciences and the development of unique programming. He has left a significant and invaluable legacy that deserves to be celebrated.”

The Southern Alberta Technology Council (SATC), which has organized the Lethbridge Regional Science Fair and Science Olympics (i.e., Sci-Fusion) since 2002, is pleased to announce that this year’s event is to be held as an in-person event, hosted on the University of Lethbridge campus, Apr. 26-27, 2024. The last in-person Science Fair on the University campus took place in 2019, and the group is looking forward to welcoming future scientists, engineers and so much more to the University to celebrate discovery.

After the fire — how plant life is recovering following the Kenow wildfire

University of Lethbridge researchers have been monitoring plant life in Waterton Lakes National Park to see how they’re responding following the massive Kenow wildfire in 2017. “We know we have increasing fires on the landscape recently, so plant communities are going to have to deal with that,” says Dr. Jenny McCune, a ULethbridge biology professor. “But then we also have increases in human-caused stressors like recreation. There’s a real question about how those two different sources of stress will interact and whether one will magnify the effects of the other.”

University of Lethbridge alumni at heart of 2024/25 Mainstage Alumni Season lineup
