The University of Lethbridge recently held its first ever Oral History Summer Institute (OHSI), an opportunity open to anyone interested in oral history, from family historians and genealogists to community organizers and students. As part of the Faculty of Arts & Science rollout of courses geared toward continuing education and professional development, participants learned about oral history methods and theories, heard from practising oral historians and got hands-on experience in workshop and feedback sessions.

University of Lethbridge research projects from across the institution were supported with more than $3.7 million in funding as the Government of Canada announced a major investment in Canadian science, engineering, social sciences and humanities research.

A hub for student engagement and inspirational leader for a number of important societal campaigns and student and community issues, the University of Lethbridge Bookstore was named winner of the annual Volunteer Award at Thursday’s Chancellor’s Reception. The Bookstore was recognized specifically for its support of the annual Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation Christmas Tree Festival and Gala, which continues to foster growth, learning and connectivity to the broader Lethbridge community through the spectacular Tree of Knowledge.

Constance Day Chief (BN ’17, MN ’21) is a changemaker and her University of Lethbridge experience is testament to that. The newly minted Master of Nursing graduate saw a need for change in how Indigenous people were presented in the nursing curriculum while she was a student and that propelled her to focus her master’s project on the health impacts of residential schools.
