Acknowledging her exceptional contributions to health sciences, neuroscientist Dr. Gerlinde Metz has become the University of Lethbridge’s first professor to be named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences Fellow (CAHS). Fellows are recognized by their peers nationally and internationally for their contributions to health sciences and have demonstrated leadership, distinctive competencies and a commitment to advance health sciences.

The duo, along with twin sisters Katherine Plouffe and Michelle Plouffe, defeated France 16-15 in the championship game, and now look forward to qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics. According to Alzheimer’s Disease International, many factors have been linked to the development of dementia. While some risk factors, such as age or family history, can’t be modified, other risk factors, such as exercise, smoking, alcohol consumption and obesity, can be altered. Those modifiable risk factors are of particular interest to University of Lethbridge neuroscientist Dr. Rob McDonald.
