Alberta RNA Research and Training Institute welcomes Gairdner Award winner for public lectures

Dr. Rodolphe Barrangou will be available for media interviews Monday, Nov. 14 at 11:15 a.m. in room E868 The Alberta RNA Research and Training Institute (ARRTI) is delighted to host Dr. Rodolphe Barrangou, recipient of the 2016 Canada Gairdner International Award, for a public speaker event on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016. This is the fourth consecutive year that the University has had the opportunity to partner with the Canada Gairdner Foundation, bringing to campus some of the world’s top research minds.

Bust-a-Backpack campaign outdoes expectations

The teachers of tomorrow are helping today’s students with their annual Bust-a-Backpack campaign, an initiative of the Education Undergraduate Society (EUS) at the University of Lethbridge. In the annual campaign, now in its ninth year, Faculty of Education students fundraise to fill backpacks full of school supplies, which they then donate to local schools.

University of Lethbridge continues to move up in Research InfoSource rankings list

For the second consecutive year the University of Lethbridge has improved its ranking among the country’s elite research universities, moving up one spot in each of the undergraduate and overall categories of Research InfoSource’s annual Research Universities of the Year rankings list. The U of L jumped to third in the country in the 2016 Undergraduate classification, while also moving up a spot to 34th in the overall rankings.

For the fifth consecutive year, the U of L was ranked third in the Primarily Undergraduate category, a classification of 19 universities from across the country.

University of Lethbridge appoints trio of Board of Governors Research Chairs

The University of Lethbridge Board of Governors appointed three Tier II Board of Governors Research Chairs recently, rewarding outstanding faculty members who are committed to excellence in graduate student training and who possess outstanding records of attracting highly qualified personnel. Drs. Richelle Marynowski (education), D. Andrew Stewart (fine arts) and Suzanne Lenon (women & gender studies) have been appointed to three-year terms as put forward by the Office of the Vice-President Research.

AGILITY program and Dhillon School of Business receive major RBC gift in support of innovation, entrepreneurship

Innovation in family and small business in southern Alberta received a major boost today as RBC pledged $750,000 to the University of Lethbridge’s AGILITY program and the Dhillon School of Business. The gift specifically supports programs and initiatives within a new family business and small business stream of AGILITY, a program focused on helping students develop skills in innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.
