RiboWest Conference 2018 brings together top RNA researchers from Western Canada and beyond

Leading investigators in the field of ribonucleic acid (RNA) research and genomics are gathering at the University of Lethbridge (U of L), June 10-13, 2018, to attend the 14th Annual RiboWest Conference, organized by the members of the Alberta RNA Research and Training Institute (ARRTI). Many of us have heard of DNA, the biomolecule that constitutes the letters of the book of life. However, few of us may have heard of DNA ‘s cousin, RNA, a similar biomolecule that during the last decades has emerged as a molecule of equal importance to DNA.

Lethbridge high school iGEM team wins award at first competition

Students from Lethbridge high schools showcased their Ctrl-Salt-Del synthetic biology project The University of Lethbridge high school International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) team came away with the Best Opportunity Analysis award and an $1,800 travel bursary after competing at their first geekStarter jamboree in Canmore on May 26 and 27. The team earned the award for analyzing previous work done by iGEM teams and learning from its limitations.

University of Lethbridge to celebrate student medal winners at 2018 Spring Convocation

The University of Lethbridge is excited to celebrate the achievements of its newest graduates at the 2018 Spring Convocation, May 31 and June 1 in the 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness. Distinguishing themselves among the many outstanding graduates are the U of L’s medal winners for 2018. They are as follows: Gold Medal of the Governor General – Jason Flindall (Ceremony I) Awarded to the student with the highest academic standing at the graduate level.

University of Lethbridge 2018 Spring Convocation, May 31 and June 1 at 1st Choice Savings Centre

Over the next two days, the University of Lethbridge will celebrate the achievements of 1,351 students as they cross the stage at the 2018 Spring Convocation. Ceremonies take place Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1 at the 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day.
