Local tattoo artists join forces to raise funds for mental health services at the U of L

Their tattoo designs may be different but their desire to build community is the same. When tattoo artists from Libertine and Nectar tattoo studios teamed up for a fundraiser, they were unanimous in wanting to support mental health services for students at the University of Lethbridge.

University of Lethbridge looking for presenters for TEDx speaker event

TEDxUleth I Am Still Learning LETHBRIDGE – The call is out for people interested in becoming a TEDx presenter at the University of Lethbridge in January 2020. The U of L will present its first TEDx event on January 25, 2020. The University is now looking for candidates to apply to be a speaker or performer addressing the theme of I Am Still Learning. Learning is a lifelong journey of discovery and the U of L is inviting anyone to submit a talk idea consistent with this theme.

U of L researchers study the underlying biological processes associated with the development of Alzheimer’s disease

Researchers at the University of Lethbridge will delve further into the basic markers associated with the development of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) thanks to two funding grants. Dr. Majid Mohajerani, principal investigator, and co-investigators, Drs. Robert Sutherland and Bryan Kolb from the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience (CCBN) at the University of Lethbridge, and Dr. David Westaway from the University of Alberta, will primarily use mouse models to understand the underlying biological processes associated with the development of AD.

U of L computing team captures fifth place in programming contest

The top University of Lethbridge team took fifth place in the recent Rocky Mountain Regional Programming Contest. “Our top team solved the same number of problems as the top two University of Alberta teams and the top University of Calgary team, only losing to the other Alberta schools by penalty minutes,” says Dr. Howard Cheng, team coach and a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. “We were certainly competitive against the other Alberta schools, the University of Saskatchewan and a number of larger American schools.”
