Novel U of L instrument design published in Review of Scientific Instruments

An innovative concept developed by the University of Lethbridge’s Astronomical Instrumentation Group (AIG) was recently published in the prestigious Review of Scientific Instruments, a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the American Institute of Physics (AIP) now in its 90th year. Although published by the AIP, the Review of Scientific Instruments is unique in that it reports on novel instrumentation from all branches of science and, as a result, has a high acceptance threshold.

University community steps up to assist students through Emergency Student Bursary

In the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, it quickly became apparent that some students were facing severe challenges to make ends meet. Many students lost part-time jobs, had trouble putting food on the table or making rent payments — all while trying to complete a semester that had been turned upside down by an unprecedented switch to an online platform.

Grant to aid in developing new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease

The University of Lethbridge’s Dr. Majid Mohajerani and two partners from Laval University are creating new tools for neuroscience research that they’ll use to test out a promising drug target for Alzheimer’s disease. If successful, their research could lead to new treatments to prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s disease symptoms, delay progression of the disease or even restore normal function after symptoms have appeared.
