Dhillon School of Business first business school in Canada to require Indigenous course as part of core degree

The Dhillon School of Business at the University of Lethbridge is looking to lead the way in reconciliation and Indigenization efforts by becoming the first business school in Canada to include an Indigenous course requirement as part of a student’s core business degree.

A collaborative, open and organic work, 4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane is presented online to remote audiences, March 17 – 20 at 7:30 p.m. nightly via Zoom.

U of L researchers net $1.8 million to help solve the mysteries of Alzheimer’s disease

University of Lethbridge researchers are looking at the potential for cannabis compounds to treat or even prevent Alzheimer’s disease, as well as to track and possibly stop abnormal proteins from spreading damage in the brain with $1.8 million in funding grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Dr. Robert McDonald and his team at the U of L’s Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience (CCBN), will use preclinical animal models to investigate marijuana compounds as potential treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.

U of L students tackle food insecurity on campus

Through the University of Lethbridge’s Nourish initiative, student clubs have joined forces to decrease food insecurity on campus during March, which is Nutrition Month. With one in five students facing food scarcity, around 2,000 students sometimes run out of food and cannot afford to buy more.

Drama student entry takes home top award in 2021 Play Right Prize playwriting competition

Dramatic Arts student Jessica Syratt is the winner of the 2021 Play Right Prize competition for her entry, The Evening Comes. Syratt’s play was described by the competition jury as, “a poetic, spiritually rich, three-woman rumination on the common experience of grief and loss through different ages and time periods. Beautifully structured, layered with song and ritual, and authentically moving, the play exhibits a mature understanding of the power of language to express, share, and hopefully to heal, profound sorrow.”
