Brenda Milner Lecture Series to feature renowned researcher of mental health and addiction

University of Lethbridge graduate students at the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience (CCBN) are pleased to welcome one of the world’s foremost authorities in addiction psychiatry, Dr. Anthony Phillips, as the keynote speaker for the 15th annual Brenda Milner Lecture Series (BMLS), May 10-11.

High school students get introduction to Management

High school students from Lethbridge and area will discover all that the University of Lethbridge’s Dhillon School of Business offers through Experience Management Day on Wednesday, May 3. Students will get the chance to network with peers from other schools and participate in a team-building exercise that challenges them to build the tallest structure they can in 18 minutes, using 20 spaghetti noodles, a metre each of tape and string, plus a marshmallow to go on top.

Fostering resilience in mothers and babies following the Fort McMurray wildfire

Dr. Gerlinde Metz, a University of Lethbridge neuroscientist, is one of a group of Canadian researchers led by Dr. David Olson at the University of Alberta who seek to reduce the negative effects of stress on pregnant women, newborns and their mothers following the Fort McMurray wildfire. The research study, which was recently awarded $500,000 from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, could lead to new strategies for helping people who are facing disasters in the future.

Teaching Innovation Fund supports remote sensing class project sending balloon to the edge of space

When University of Lethbridge geography professor Dr. Craig Coburn looked at redesigning his Remote Sensing 4650 course, he aimed high – all the way to space. Proposing a high-altitude balloon project as the centerpiece, Coburn and his 24 students designed, created and launched a remote sensing system that scraped the edge of the earth’s upper atmosphere and provided an unparalleled student experience.

Destination Exploration and City of Lethbridge welcome Lethbridge School District girls to first All Girls STEM Day
