Learning Quest and Codemakers summer camps start July 4th and run until August 25th with Destination Exploration, Lethbridge’s leading youth science outreach program. Hundreds of children will get to make amazing new memories this summer at Mad Scientist, Grossology, Comics & Cartoons, and Tech Makers camps, along with many other exciting options.

U of L names new director for Iikaisskini FNMI Gathering Place

The University of Lethbridge is pleased to announce that Roy Pogorzelski has been appointed director for the Iikaisskini (Low Horn) FNMI Gathering Place, established in 2014 to be a welcoming place where appreciation and respect for First Nations, Métis and Inuit heritage is fostered. “We are very excited to welcome Roy to the University of Lethbridge,” says Dr. Mark Slomp, executive director of Student Services. “He is a dynamic, interesting and passionate individual who excels at building relationships and bringing people together to create positive change.”

University of Lethbridge Sport & Recreation camps add services to meet community need

Sport & Recreation Services summer camps at the University of Lethbridge are rapidly filling up in advance of the first week of offerings and with some additional services available for parents this summer, are proving more popular than ever. Summer camp season at the U of L kicks off July 4 and continues through the week of August 21, a week longer than usual. What has also been extended are the hours of operation, allowing parents more flexibility with drop-off ad pick-up times for their children.

Community invited to help reconstruct vandalized public art piece

University of Lethbridge art student Sarah Russell planned to share a message of unity through her artwork in the LandMarks2017 exhibition. However, vandals rearranged her work into a crude image on the side of the coulee in Indian Battle Park. Russell’s artwork, which represented the Blackfoot symbol for unity, now needs just that – people to unite to help rebuild the installation before the opening reception on June 20.

The University of Lethbridge joins 15 post-secondary institutions, 12 leading Canadian artists, and seven curators in engaging with Canada 150 through LandMarks2017, a national art project. Created by Partners in Art (PIA) and presented by TD, this Canada 150 signature project brought artists together to creatively explore and connect with Canadian landmarks.
