Media Advisory: University of Lethbridge AGILITY Program supporting Education Challenge Day case study competition

WHAT: Education Challenge Day

WHEN: Wednesday, July 13, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: University of Lethbridge Library Curriculum Lab (4th floor)

Graduate students in the Faculty of Education will be given a case study challenge that will address issues related to Alberta’s Accountability Pillar Program used for assessing school effectiveness. They will be tasked to design a solution to those issues over the course of the day.

The students will present their findings to a judging panel at 3 p.m., after which they will be adjudicated and prizes awarded. Media and members of the public are invited to attend the presentations and adjudication, and the public will be able to vote on the best design.

Judges on the panel include Joanne Neal, acting executive director of Programs of Study and Resources, Alberta Education; Dr. Robert Wood, dean of the School of Graduate Studies, University of Lethbridge; Amber Darroch, associate superintendent Curriculum and Instruction, Horizon School Division; Dr. Dawn Burleigh, assistant professor, Aboriginal Education, University of Lethbridge; Rod Scott, assistant principal, Victoria Park High School.

The case study is a School of Graduate Studies Curriculum and Assessment MEd initiative.
