Campus Care parcels to be distributed to help address continuing food security concerns for students

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges across every aspect of society and addressing basic needs of food security are even more important in today’s world.

WHAT: 17th annual Spring Campus Care Parcel pick-up

WHEN: Wednesday, Mar. 25, 1 to 4 p.m. (media invited 1 to 2 p.m.)

WHERE: Anderson Hall curbside, University of Lethbridge

WHO: The U of L Chaplaincy (Erin Phillips and Father Roque), local churches, Save On Foods and members of the University community

Targeted emails have been sent out to identify particular groups and individuals who are more likely to be experiencing a food shortage during this difficult time. Pickup will involve individuals pulling up to Anderson Hall curbside and calling volunteer distributors, who will bring out a food bag. Every precaution has been taken to avoid the gathering of groups. We are very sensitive to the needs and safety of our students and ask media to only film/photograph those providing the parcels. PLEASE DO NOT IDENTIFY or ATTEMPT TO INTERVIEW STUDENTS. Mark Slomp, executive director, Student Services, and Chaplain Erin Phillips will be available for interviews via phone.
