Ahead of the Herd event takes on greater significance as first-year students prepare for Fall Term

Wednesday, June 1, 2022

The impacts of two years of primarily online learning and living through a global pandemic have affected all students. And while students beginning their post-secondary careers have always faced challenges with the shift to a new school, different instructors and the possibility of moving away from home for the first time, add in factors such as remote learning and loss of social connection over the past two years and the transition is even more daunting.

Recognizing the need to establish an early positive connection with students, and for students to connect with one another, the University of Lethbridge has enhanced its Ahead of the Herd student orientation event, which runs Saturday, June 4 to Sunday, June 5, 2022.

WHAT: Ahead of the Herd first-year student orientation

WHEN: Saturday, June 4 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

WHERE: University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge campus

WHO: First-year students for the Fall 2022 Term and their families

This summer orientation event invites students and their families to participate in fun activities, stay the night in residence and get a glimpse of what it’s like to be a university student. The event starts in the gym with a brief welcome and guest speaker, followed by an Amazing Race-style event for students to help them get familiar with campus.

As well, the University of Lethbridge Alumni Association is presenting an evening Sundaes on Saturday event from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Media are welcome to attend campus throughout the day.
