After three years of research, construction and creation, Mootookakio’ssin, a collaborative project led by Blackfoot Elders with researchers from the University of Lethbridge and the UK, artists, and British museums, is coming to fruition with the launch of the digital microsite.

WHAT: Mootookakio’ssin website launch

WHEN: Thursday, November 18, 2021, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: Science Commons Atrium

Mootookakio’ssin (distant awareness) aims to virtually reconnect Blackfoot items in museums with Blackfoot people, to assist in the process of knowledge renewal, and to build bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

This is a drop-in demonstration with no formal program. Media attending can come at any time as the researchers, website creators, advisors and Elders will be present throughout the demonstration.
