The community is invited to celebrate the installation of the University of Lethbridge’s seventh President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Digvir Jayas, on Friday, Oct. 13.

WHEN: Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: 1st Choice Savings Centre gymnasium

Dr. Digvir Jayas began his term as the University of Lethbridge’s seventh President and Vice-Chancellor on July 1, 2023. An accomplished researcher and former Tier I Canada Research Chair in Stored-Grain Ecosystems, Jayas is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and in 2018 was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada for his advancements to agricultural practices worldwide, and for his promotion of academic and scientific research in Canada. In June, he was named the 2023 recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in Manitoba.

Media are invited to attend the ceremonial occasion which will include a full procession and recession, greetings from community and government representatives, musical selections from the University of Lethbridge Singers, the U of L Honour Song, a welcome from campus academic and non-academic units, the official installation and the presidential address.
