ART NOW - Philip Hoffman Speaks March 16th, 2018 at Noon in the Recital Hall

As a medium, film has often been likened to death – it is a moment frozen in time as the great French film theorist André Bazin put it – it is time mummified. Vulture Aesthetics, relates both to my own work as a filmmaker and teacher, but also the work developed through the Independent Imaging Retreat (aka Film Farm), a hand processing film workshop in Southern Ontario, nearly 25 years in the works.

Brent Coulton (BFA, Emily Carr University of Art + Design) is a multi-disciplinary artist with a wide variety of interests and experiences that influence his creative projects. Having spent time as a member of an illegal artist-run space, a touring punk and noise rock musician, graffiti artist, and craftsman building boats and cars, his artistic undertakings are varied and inconsistent.
