Graduate Student Workshop - Presenting Online

The current COVID crisis is seeing many Graduate Students being asked to give conference presentations (and poster sessions) virtually this year. This session is designed to help Graduate Students plan and organize a virtual presentations and poster sessions for recording as well as talk through some of the tools required for this process. This will be an opportunity to come and learn some strategies as well as ask some questions on this topic.

This Shoptalk is designed for those who are new to teaching with Zoom. In this Shoptalk you will learn the basics of Zoom, including the following:

-- managing participants
-- sharing content
-- navigating breakout rooms
-- recording your classes

You will also have the opportunity to discuss Zoom related issues with your peers and ask teaching related Zoom questions.

ShopTalk: Reducing Course Costs with OER's

In this one-hour hands-on workshop, you will learn how to:
 
- find existing high-quality digital OER in your field (e.g. open textbooks, lectures, simulations, labs, infographics, handouts, assignments, testbanks, activities, interactive modules, etc.)
- curate OER from a variety of sources and collect them into a new resource for your course in either an LMS like Moodle or an open platform like Pressbooks
- get involved in the development and sharing of OER

ShopTalk: Moodle and Copyright

In this one-hour long hands-on workshop, you will be learning how to:
 
- search for online-friendly resources (preferably OER or subscriptions items purchased by the U of L; e.g. images, journal articles, websites, videos, etc) (Joerdis)
- make sure to you copyright-approved content in Moodle (Rumi)
- use of Moodle as a repository to upload and curate your content for students
