ULethbridge biological sciences students earn awards

The Department of Biological Sciences is pleased to congratulate its students who recently earned awards. In the Luke Stebbins Undergraduate Research Symposium, the panel of judges selected two winners — Anna Shearer and Jaxon Reiter. Each student received a $200 cash prize.

Two graduate students in the department also earned awards from the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists — Danial Hunter, an MSC candidate, and Emma Neigel, a PhD candidate.

Condolence Notice — Dorin Berlando

The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere sympathies to the friends and family of Dorin Berlando, who passed away on Sunday, July 3 at the age of 92.

Berlando was a community-minded individual and served on the University Senate for six years from 1990 to 1996. An obituary is available online at Martin Brothers.

At his request, a private burial service will be held. In honour of Berlando, ULethbridge will lower its flags on Thursday, July 7.

LPIRG is looking for a short-term contract position to build a new LPIRG website using the website builder, Wix. Contract is for 30 hours for a total contract salary of $600 CAD. No formal coding experience required.

Speaker event: Shawn Singer, Two-Spirit from Blackfoot Perspective

The University of Lethbridge is please to host an online webinar that focuses on deepening one’s understanding of the cultural, historical, and spiritual context of the Two Spirit individuals from a Blackfoot perspective.

The session will be delivered by Shawn Singer, an Indigenous Relations Consultant in the Indigenous Relations Office at the City of Calgary. Shawn holds a bachelors in social work and a masters in Education.
