On March 10, 2014, Rick Mercer spent the day with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorn Athletics throwing team filming for an episode of the Rick Mercer Report on CBC.

The University of Lethbridge community was deeply saddened by the loss of long-time friend and supporter Dr. Ed McNally (LLD ’05) in August. Early in 2014, the Faculty of Health Sciences was honoured to recognize Dr. McNally as the 2014 Friend of Health Sciences Award recipient.

Jim Coutts, a southern Alberta-based art collector, political advisor and philanthropist, has formally turned over his homestead property and a significant portion of his art collection to the University of Lethbridge, thereby creating the Coutts Centre for Western Canadian Heritage.

Longtime University of Lethbridge employee Linda Embury is one of the great ambassadors on campus. She also sees the Supporting Our Students campaign as an essential program, providing opportunities for students that may otherwise not exist.

The Destination Project, the most significant undertaking for the University of Lethbridge since the construction of the original University Hall in 1972, includes the construction of new science facilities that will house the majority of the science teaching and research activities on campus.

Dr. Olu Awosoga has contributed to the annual Supporting Our Students campaign since he was whired by the University of Lethbridge.

A cultural icon of southern Alberta and one of the most important portraitists of First Nations people, Nicholas de Grandmaison was a nomadic painter who often stayed with ranchers, farmers and Aboriginal families for several days at a time while he painted their portraits.

Gerry Ste. Marie has been a contributor to the Supporting Our Students campaign fund for five years and sees his donations as an extension of his duties as a U of L employee.
