Senator Banks gives Turcotte talk

Canadian Senator Tommy Banks will make an appearance at the University of Lethbridge Thursday afternoon, hosted by the U of L Liberal Association.

Banks will be speaking on the constitutional legitimacy of a coalition government, and explore the history and purpose that they can play in the formation a government. If time permits, he will also open discussion on the prospect of a Triple E Senate.

The talk is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. in Turcotte Hall (room TH277).

After a long and successful career as a musician and television show host, Tommy Banks was appointed to the Senate on the advice of the Rt. Hon. Jean Chretien in April, 2000. Senator Banks currently sits on the Standing Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources, as well as the Standing Committee for National Security and Defence.
