ART NOW - Annie Martin Speaks March 22nd, 2017 at Noon at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery

“Nothing but an open mouth, or perhaps an eye, an ear: nothing but an open body. Bodies are adoration in all their openings.” 

Annie Martin will discuss her recent project, adoration, at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, within the installation space. adoration was created in collaboration with soprano Janet Youngdahl, with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts, The Banff Centre for the Arts and OBORO.

ARRTI Speaker Series - Dr. Kristian Baker

The Alberta RNA Research and Training Institute presents Dr. Kristian Baker from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, USA. Her talk is titled "RNA Quality Control - Looking for Nonsense." The ARRTI Speaker Series is open to the public and was established to bring leading researchers to the University of Lethbridge for lectures on a broad range of topics relating to RNA research. All are welcome! Coffee and snacks will be provided.

Singing the Sacred Space

A newly created vocal ensemble, Sweet Breath, will appear at the lecture recital: “Singing the Sacred Space” presented by Janet Youngdahl at the SAAG on March 12 at 2pm. Composed of seven professional woman singers, the recital includes chant by Hildegard von Bingen, Hebrew chant with Persian melodies, sacred polyphony by Duruflé and spirituals.

The recital will take place within adoration, an installation by Annie Martin created in collaboration with Janet Youngdahl.

5 Days for the Homeless

Join us in our efforts to combat youth homelessness right here in town. We will have 5 participants sleeping outside for 5 Days/Nights as they collect donations, all proceeds go directly towards Woods Homes Lethbridge.
