Condolence Notice — Dr. Bhagwan Dua

The University of Lethbridge extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Bhagwan Dua, who recently passed away in Hawaii.

Dean and Professor Emeritus Dua joined the U of L as a professor of political science after finishing his doctoral degree at the University of Alberta. Dr. Peter McCormick, professor emeritus, was Chair of the department at the time.

Condolence Notice — Robert Shore

The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Robert Shore, who passed away Jan. 3 at the age of 88.

Shore enjoyed a 20-year career at the U of L, working as superintendent of buildings from 1969 to 1989.

Condolence Notice — Lottie Austin

The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to Professor Emeritus Dr. George Evelyn and the family and friends of Lottie Austin, who passed away on Monday, December 11 at the age of 60.

George and Lottie shared a love of music — Lottie was an accomplished pianist and George was Professor of Voice and director of the U of L singers in the U of L’s Department of Music for 26 years before he retired in 2009. In addition, they were dynamic supporters of southern Alberta and the U of L in particular.

Condolence Notice — August (Gus) Boersma

The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of August (Gus) Boersma, who passed away on Oct. 14. in Penticton, British Columbia.

Originally from Holland, he immigrated to Port Cartier, Quebec in 1960, where he met his wife Sigrid. The family moved to Fernie, B.C. in 1968, where Boersma became in involved in local clubs and was elected as a councillor and mayor. In addition, he served two terms as a U of L senator beginning in 1981.
