University Archives/Special Collections Renovation: July–August 2017

The University Archives (L1172) will be undergoing a renovation to expand its current space and install enhanced fire suppression systems to preserve the archives and collections. The work is expected to begin in early-July and continue through August. There may be some intermittent noise associated with this activity during this time.

Records Management & Writing Centre: On the Move in the Library

Please be advised that Records Management and the Writing Centre will be relocating to different spaces in the Library after Wednesday, June 28.

Records Management will be moving from L1172 to L1006 A & B. You can still contact them via email at records@uleth.ca or by telephone at 403.329.2725.

Library Hours: Intersession & Canada Day (June 22 – July 9)

During the intersession period (June 22 – July 9), the Library's hours of operation will be as follows:

  • June 22 – 23: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • June 24 – 25: CLOSED
  • June 26 – 30: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • July 1 – 3: CLOSED (Candada Day weekend)
  • July 4 – 7: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • July 8 – 9: CLOSED

Library Headcounts: June 11 - 17

From Sunday, June 11 to Saturday, June 17 student assistants (you may see them with clipboards) will be performing headcounts in the Library. The counts are to determine how many people are in the Library spaces and computer resources in use during the designated count times. No other information is being collected.

Library Construction & Service Disruption | May 29 – late-August

Beginning Monday, May 29, the Library will begin preparation for installation of compact shelving on level 9 north.
 
Please be aware of the following impacts:
 
MAIN COLLECTION ACCESS | Call Numbers NB to QR
 
The collection on level 9 north will not be accessible by patrons. Patrons can request materials from this area by submitting requested call numbers to the General Services Desk in person or by emailing the request to gsd.library@uleth.ca. Requests will be retrieved within 24-hours of submission.

Library Summer Cleaning and Collection Shifting

In late May, Library staff will begin a project to clean and shift the collections shelved on level 9 south.

Please be aware that the project involves the use of vacuum cleaners, so nearby study areas may be affected by the associated noise.

Signage will be placed in the areas that are immediately affected.

Library Level 9 North: Desktop Computer Rotation Preparation

Blackfoot Signage Enhancements in the Library

You may have noticed something a little different about signage in the University Library. Some of the signs will now have complementary Blackfoot descriptions/names accompany them. Click here to view a gallery of the enhancements.

The descriptions for the enhanced signage were provided by Blackfoot elder and fluent Blackfoot speaker Martin Heavy Head.
